To quit smoking
naturally is not easy, but not impossible. As long as you
have the right attitude, you can give up anything that you set
your mind on. Admitting it is a problem is the first step, and
probably the biggest one. Once you have identified your
problem, muster up all your will power and determination to
give it up
altogether.
You can start by writing down all the
problems caused due to smoking. Don’t just list medical
terms and conditions; write down even personal problems
that smoking has bought upon you. Make a list of all the
people affected by you smoking and how you can help them
by just giving it up. This is a very powerful habit and
read random reasons off it every night before going to
sleep and once you wake up in the
morning.
You can then start doing some alternate
things every time your mind wanders off smoking.
Calculate the amount of time you can save that you spend
smoking cigarettes and the amount of money you can save
every month which you would otherwise spend buying
cigarettes.
When you quit smoking
naturally, don’t let the environmental stresses get
to you. If you are having a bad day remember that smoking
will only make it worse. Carry chewing gum with you every
time you feel that your mouth is going dry or feel the
need to light a cigarette. Don’t cave in to the
temptation once you have quit smoking. Remember, you have
a choice and you have chosen to quit; don’t go back on
that decision.
It is normal to break the norm and
smoke once a while. Don’t beat yourself about this and go
right back to giving it up. Chances are that you will
feel so guilty about having smoked that cigarette that
you might never want to repeat it
again.
Use the support of your close friends
and families. Quitting naturally is hard, and can be made
easier with support from the right kind of people. Always
remember that there are people around you who will be
very happy with your decision to quit and will support
you all the way
through.
With the passing time, you can
celebrate a milestone. It is important to treat yourself
once you cross a certain point after smoking, and go out
with friends or watch a movie with your family. As long
as it does not involve smoking, you can do what your
heart pleases!
Since you may have some extra time now
that you don’t have anything to do during your cigarette
breaks, use it productively. Go out for a walk in the
park, drink some fresh fruit juice or even call a friend
to catch up with
them.
To quit smoking
naturally is not something that has not been done
before, so remember that whenever you feel low or
down.
